Proportion and stability are decided on purpose, not left to a stock size.

We build pergolas in wood, steel, and Owens Corning® Structural Lumber, and the choice follows the design. Wood brings warmth and a natural, familiar character; steel carries longer clear spans and holds a crisper, more modern line; structural lumber — fiberglass-reinforced — frames like wood but won't rot, rust, or warp, so it holds true outdoors for the long run. Whichever we use, the members and connections are selected for strength, rigidity, and long-term durability — built to the same construction standards that guide the rest of our work.
The details are deliberate. Beam alignment, post placement, and connection points are drawn so the structure stays true and the lines stay quiet — the parts you don't notice are exactly the parts that keep it feeling intentional years later.
