KDAT Framing
Custom decks and outdoor structures designed, engineered, and built to perform long after installation.
High-Performance Framing
Why framing matters
After the foundation, nothing affects how a deck ages more than its framing. Framing determines how the structure moves, how fasteners hold, and how well the deck maintains its appearance over time.
Most decks are framed using green or KDHT pressure-treated lumber installed while it still contains excess moisture. As that lumber dries, it can shrink, twist, and move, affecting long-term performance.
Our framing standard
At LeBlanc Decks, we standardize on KDAT (kiln-dried after treatment) framing lumber that is fully dried and professionally pre-stained before installation.
The result is straighter, more stable framing that holds fasteners better, moves less over time, and looks clean and finished from day one.
The difference may not be obvious on paper, but it becomes clear on site and remains evident years later.
Why KDAT
Higher-grade lumber
Straighter boards with fewer defects and more consistent quality.
Less movement over time
Fully kiln-dried to reduce shrinking, twisting, and warping after installation.
Supports our lifetime workmanship warranty
Stable framing allows tighter construction and long-term accountability.
Not all pressure-treated lumber performs the same
Pressure-treated lumber varies significantly depending on how it is processed and installed. Moisture content, drying method, and grading all influence how framing behaves once it becomes part of a structure.
KDAT framing provides a level of predictability and consistency that aligns with how we build and what we are prepared to stand behind.
